Moments after President Barack Obama announced his intent to engage ISIL in Iraq and Syria, a red-faced Vice President Joe Biden was seen slipping out the back of the room trying to avoid questions. "What the-?" countless White House correspondents asked themselves while looking for Biden. The vice president had spent the afternoon telling anyone who would listen that the president's announcement was about standing up to Vladimir Putin in Ukraine. "He told me we were going to quote 'kick a Ruski dictator's ass'," said David Corn of Mother Jones magazine. "He told me we had troops ready to fight in Ukraine," said Peter Alexander of NBC News. Biden was not available for comment the rest of the day, though the president did shed some light. "We stopped trusting Joe with the real news years ago." |
